KAREN HAS COME AT REAL ESTATE FROM ALMOST EVERY ANGLE

Borrower Stories | Washington, DC | March 2024

We’re proud to support developers working hard to provide good, affordable housing options.

In our series, “Developing Stories,” read about these developers and their experiences.

Karen has come at real estate from almost every angle. Trained as an architect, she’s also been an agent and is now an investor and developer with projects in Maryland and Pittsburgh.

Karen learned about us from a friend who introduced her to Sarah Massey, our Vice President for commercial lending. They met last year and have already done two projects together.

Both of Karen’s projects with us were single-family flips that she purchased, renovated, and listed in less than 3 months. In addition to working quickly (and under budget!), she leverages her architecture background and designs her properties with the end client in mind.

A testimony to Karen’s masterful eye in conception and design—Carey Place (above) and 85th Place (below), both in Frederick, MD.

Impressed, Sarah remarked, “Karen has a masterful eye for identifying projects with potential, then turning that vision into reality with a straightforward approach focused on quality, and functionality.”

Karen also champions women in real estate with her company, Your Way Realty, which offers education and consulting for real estate professionals. And she recently began exposing her two daughters to real estate investing as a strategy for income diversification and generational wealth building.

We look forward to continuing to work with her as she helps usher in a new generation of capable real estate entrepreneurs!
